Alex Richard Roy, age 25, a native of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, due to complications of an awful illness.

Born on October 29, 1997, in Grand Rapids, Alex was truly a gift to all of us who knew him and will be treasured by many. He is no longer suffering and is in a more beautiful place than we can imagine. Alex had a vibrant love for life and an adventurous way of living it. He had many interests and loved the outdoors whether it was cruising on his Harley or fishing for hours. He loved the solitude of the lake, especially with those closest to him.

Alex loved playing guitar and was always wanting to learn new music to play. He was a dear and kind man with a big heart who would help anyone in need. We will always remember his beautiful smile and the fun energy he brought along with him. His zest for life and spiritual awareness was very important to him. He loved going to church and gathering together.

He attended schools in Grand Rapids and graduated in 2016. He worked in various positions in the welding field and moved to Texas in 2019. While living there, he worked as a skilled welder at Trinity Rail in Fort Worth. During his time there he was also able to spend time with his brother Matthew, who also lives in the area. After moving back to Minnesota in 2020, he continued to work in his field and recently attended Minnesota North College in Hibbing, MN enrolled in the IT program and also lived in Hibbing. Alex is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Roy and Adeline Roy, grandfather, Ralph Wick; aunt, Linda Davies; aunt, Linda Herr; and cousin, Kyle Roy.

Alex is survived by his mother, Deanna Wick; grandmother, Carole Wick; father, Douglas (Ramona) Roy; brother, Matthew (Rachel) Brown; sister, Rebekka Roy; brother, Matt (Jen) Roy; stepbrother, Michael Heinen; stepsisters, Jenny Glasgow, and Carol Heinen; many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Alex's life will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Gunn Park Pavilion, 4680 MN Hwy 38, Grand Rapids, MN from 3 -6 PM, with a service to remember Alex at 5 PM.
