Obituary

Anthony Ferraro, age 78, of Cohasset, MN, passed away on Thursday October 3, 2024, at English Rose in Edina, MN with his son at his side.

Anthony was born in Hibbing, MN on August 1, 1946, to Anton and Margaret Ferraro.  He was raised and graduated high school in Nashwauk, MN.  Anthony went on to receive his teaching and master's degrees from Bemidji State University.  On August 22, 1970, Anthony was united in marriage to his wife Jan Ferraro, and in 1977 they welcomed their son Tony.

Anthony spent his entire career in education with Independent School District 318 as a teacher and principal.  He had a great love for his many students and co-workers and was well respected for his hard work and dedication to the Grand Rapids Public Schools.  Anthony had a passion for sports and throughout his time at Grand Rapids he was involved as a middle school coach and an announcer for high school hockey and football games.

After retiring from teaching, Anthony enjoyed traveling the world with Jan and spending time between his home on Pokegama Lake and winter place in Sun City, AZ.  He cherished the time spent with friends and family and adored his three granddaughters Norah, Ali, and Anna for whom he was known as Papa.  Anthony took immense pride in his Italian heritage, and he will always be remembered for his amazing spaghetti and meatball recipe which has been passed on to his granddaughters.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jan; and three brothers Ben, John, and Frank Ferraro.

Anthony is survived by son, Tony Michael (Holly) Ferraro of Chanhassen, MN; granddaughters, Norah, Ali, and Anna; along with nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
