Arnold F. Schmidt

Arnold F. Schmidt was born in Perham Minnesota in 1945. When he was young, his family moved to rural Grand Rapids where he grew up, graduating from Grand Rapids High School in 1965. Shortly after graduation, Arnold enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was sent to serve in Viet Nam, returning home in 1969 where he took over operations on the family farm. He resided on the farm for the remainder of his life raising a variety of livestock including quarter horses, deer, and elk. Arnold enjoyed gardening and sold fresh vegetables at the Grand Rapids Farmer Market for many years.

Arnold married Patti (Wagner) in 1979 and they had two children, Jodi and Kyle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Arlene Bernu, Betty Dullum, Carrie Del, Janice Yaeger as well as a brother Darrol Schmidt.

He is survived by Patti, their two children, Jodi (Kris) and Kyle (Susan), 7 grandchildren; Johnathan, Matthew, Whitney, Aubrey, Paige, Parker, and Peter; and 4 great-grandchildren; Ella, Zoe, Lucy, and Winnie. He is also survived by sisters Delaine Lindquist, Carolyn Schwartz, Adelyn Moss, Audrey Owens, and Marlys Skary and two brothers Merle and Fred as well as too many nieces and nephews to list.
