Obituary

Betty Lou Jaeger, age 93, formerly of Grand Rapids, MN passed peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, surrounded by beloved family.

Betty was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in the Twin Cities. In 1970, the family moved from Minneapolis to the Dethloff farm outside of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  In 1979, she was united in marriage to Don Jaeger. In her later years, Betty became a teacher's aid, working with special needs students in ISD 318 for 13 years. She had an amazingly strong Christian faith and shared her love of Jesus, her Savior with everyone she met.  She was a proud member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cohasset, Minnesota. Sewing, reading the Word of God, gardening, and singing while she worked around her home were some of Betty's favorite hobbies. Spending time with her grandchildren and family was something she treasured. Betty can be remembered for her contagious, joyous, ever present smile! If you knew Betty, you knew she was always smiling and had a positive attitude!

Betty will be deeply missed by her four daughters, Jeanne (James) Grossell, Julie (Ric) Hawk, Debbie (Mike) Salisbury, Marie "Maria" (James) Matheson; her sons, Joe (Elaine) Collins and David (Donna) Jaeger; daughter-in-law, Barb Jaeger; son-in-law, Glen Yost; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her three sisters, Elaine Chomyak, Ruth Solfield, and Jean Lindahl; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Collins and husband, Don Jaeger, Sr.; daughters, Cindy Collins and Carol Yost; and her sons, James Collins, Don Jaeger, Jr. and Doug Jaeger; and her parents.

Betty's family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Maplewoods Assisted Living for their care and friendship, and to the staff of St. Croix Hospice during this difficult time.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cohasset, MN with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Rev. William Zeige will officiate. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, at a later date.
