Beverly Ann Peterson (Swalboski), age 94, formally of Northome, MN passed away, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Parmly on the Lake in Chisago City, MN.

Beverly was born at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN to Martin and Magnhild Peterson of Chisago City. She was the second of seven children, the middle of the 3 oldest girls followed by the four younger boys. She graduated from Chisago City High School and entered Gustavus Adolfus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education and a Master's of Library Science.

She married Roger Swalboski in October of 1953. She claimed she wanted to have five boys and Roger said that was fine with him as long as he got one girl and they set to work and added Kim (55), Tim (56), Tom (57), Jerry (59), Jeff (60) and Malinda (63) to the family over an 8 year time frame.

In 1967 she started contemplating beginning her teaching career and started substitute teaching in the Bemidji and Red Lake school systems in 1968. In 1970 she was offered and accepted a position with ISD 363 as the junior high school English teacher and librarian at Northome High School for the 1970-1971 school year. In 1974 she shifted to teaching senior high school English classes thereby ensuring that all of her children, except Kim, had her as a teacher for multiple years. After 17 years teaching at Northome, she was offered a job teaching in Big Fork and accepted the longer commute in exchange for better pay.

In 1989 she and Roger moved to Las Vegas, NV where Malinda was working, and Beverly substituted in the Las Vegas school system before getting a call from Grand Rapids, MN requesting she take a job in Grand Rapids with children who were having a difficult time with study skills. She retired from teaching after touching the lives of many students in 1995.

Beverly and Roger divorced in 1995 and Beverly moved to Duluth, took up watercolors, and started producing art. She filled all of her children's houses and used her artwork as a basis for birthday, anniversary, and Christmas cards.

In 1998 Beverly married Eugene Frisk, continued creating watercolors, and moved to Robbinsdale. She and Gene traveled to Sweden to visit relatives for several years and hosted them on their visits to the states. They also worked long and hard to preserve the cemeteries in the Chisago City area, weeding, cleaning, straightening and leveling headstones.

After Gene retired, they started working on their house in Duluth. A complete gut and renovation, they would work for days installing floors and cabinets. Beverly lived in Duluth until Gene passed and after living with Malinda a short time, moved into Parmly by the Lake in Chisago City, where she lived until her death. After death Beverly kept up her teaching ways by donating her body to the University of Minnesota Medical School

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Magnhild (Johnson) Peterson;  sisters, Rose Marie Bergher and Mary Lou Munroe; her brothers, Lowell (Joyce), John (Nancy), and Jim (Jennette); husbands, Roger Swalboski, Eugene Frisk; and a grandson Chad Hachey. She is survived by her children; Kim (Suzanna), Tim (Donna), Tom (Goldale), Jerry (Nancy), Jeffrey (Diana), and Malinda; grandchildren, Allison (Joe), Amanda, Cameron (Christopher), Thea (Aaron), Timothy Jr, JesseLee (Kirk), Bill (Jessamy) , Courtney, Jerry Jr (Arielle), Chris (Desiree), Derick (Theresa), Zebulun, David (Kayla); brother Steven (Patty), and a host of great grandchildren.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Parmly for the outstanding care they gave Beverly, especially the staff of Margaret's House and the Hospice staff.

A celebration of Beverly's Life will be held at Northome  School on Sunday, October 12, beginning at 3:00 PM
