Brent Richard Walstad "Wally", age 62, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center surrounded by family. Brent was a current resident of Hayward, WI formerly from Grand Rapids, MN.

Brent is survived by his loving wife, Rosalind Walstad; daughter, Ali (Justin) Swang; step-son, Jerry Becker (Samantha); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Becker, Ellery, Corban and Gus Swang; parents, Larry and Kathleen Walstad; brother, Gary (Patti) Walstad; sisters, Kristi (Jim) Maras and Lori Walstad; as well as nieces, nephews and their children. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dewey and Elizabeth Smith; paternal grandparents, John and Lenora Walstad; and his niece, Katie Trevena.

Brent was born on September 29, 1962, to Kathleen Elizabeth (Smith) and Larry Richard Walstad in Grand Rapids, MN where he was raised. He attended Grand Rapids High School, graduating class of 1981. Brent went on to attend Itasca Community College and later completed his Bachelor's Degree at St. Cloud State in 1986. In 1986 he married Coleen Esser and through that unity they had their daughter Ali Eileen Kathleen Walstad. In 1995 shortly after Brent moved to Hayward, Wisconsin he met Rosalind and they were later married on December 23, 2003.

Brent had many purposes in life that included being a son, brother, grandson, husband, father, papa, uncle and friend. He lived life to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to show his family and friends how much he loved them. Being a people person, Brent did very well at his job as a sales representative for Morton Buildings. His customers often became friends well after the job was completed. As a Minnesota guy living in the state of Wisconsin, he made sure everyone knew his loyalty to Minnesota sports teams. He loved his years of hunting at Deer Camp as well as fishing. A hobby of Brent's was playing cribbage with his friends and family, he also loved spending time in his garage that he called the "man cave" showcasing his favorite things on the walls. He would say his greatest accomplishment in life was the family he created. His wife Roz was his anchor and her endearing love and care for Brent went without question. They shared a love of the outdoors and watching sports. Brent loved to tease and poke fun at Roz and she could dish it right back. Together they lived a beautiful life at their home in the woods. As Brent's only child, Ali, they shared an incredible father-daughter bond. She has always been his number one "Pal" and he would often tell her how proud he was of her and her family. His four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ellery, Corban and Gus, brought him immense joy. He was their Papa and he hung the moon. He loved watching them play hockey and spending time with them.

What Brent will be remembered most for is his ability to make others laugh, his sense of humor was like no other. He would often go to great lengths even at the expense of his pride to entertain his family and friends. We will profoundly miss the legend that he was.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, MN followed by the 11:00 AM funeral service. Rev. David N. Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
