Bruce S. Mangseth, age 81, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Essentia Health – St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN, with family by his side.

Bruce was born in 1943 to Rolf and Thora Mangseth in Grand Rapids, MN. He attended area schools and graduated from Greenway High School. Bruce had seen Diane Kangas at a Bovey teenage dance from across the room, and although she was from the "rival" Grand Rapids High School, they began dating. The high school sweethearts wed June 11, 1966. After graduating high school, Bruce attended Itasca Community College, continuing on to Bemidji State University, and obtaining a Masters Degree in elementary school counseling at Mankato State University.

Bruce began his teaching career in Eden Prairie, MN, where he taught for five years. He then taught 31 years in the Grand Rapids schools; including Squaw Lake, Warba, Wendigo as teaching principal,  and teaching 6th grade for 19 years at the Grand Rapids Middle School.

Bruce enjoyed the outdoors, going hunting and fishing. But his biggest joy was teaching children about the outdoors. He took great pride in his immaculate yard, often having people drive by and stop to just admire his work. Bruce loved his family; they were his pride and joy. As much as he loved fishing his summers off, he often traded his boat trailer for a horse trailer.  He was seen taking his daughters to the many horse shows and competitions they were involved in. Bruce always said that there was plenty of time to fish after the girls had grown.  Bruce and Diane enjoyed many years of retirement travelling to Florida, California, Mexico, and taking cruises visiting many countries and islands.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Jon Mangseth; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Kangas, Ken Kangas, and Lonnie Lyman.   He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diane; daughters, Lisa Mangseth (Bruce Beauchamp) and Kari (Lanny) Hartman; one grandson, Mitchell Peterson; sister, Rosalind Lyman; brother, Conrad (Bonnie) Mangseth; nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church beginning at 9:30 AM and lasting until the 11:30 AM memorial service. Rev. David N. Anderson will officiate.
