Carl Everett Bonice, 81, was born May 10, 1943 in Bono, Ohio to Tiney Bonice and Opal (Branham) Bonice.  He passed away on April 22, 2025 at his home in Grand Rapids, MN after a long battle with lung cancer.  His loving family was by his side.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to your local food bank.

Carl graduated from Southwestern High school in Patriot, Ohio.  After graduation, he joined the US Air Force where he studied electronics before beginning his career with the US Department of Defense.  He worked primarily as a QA Specialist, moving around the country, but eventually settled into Wilton, Iowa to raise his family while working at the Rock Island Arsenal. He held numerous training certifications, including NASA.  He traveled worldwide during these years, and his expertise laid the groundwork for many of the defense systems used today.  When he retired from the Dept of Defense, he achieved his lifelong dream of owning a lake home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  There he began a second career as owner of Carl's Appliance Repair, which he ran for 30 years; 1990-2020.

Carl could fix anything.  He loved Minnesota, guns, cars, and fishing; but he would tell you his greatest success was landing 17-year-old Thelma Jean Holbrook as his wife.  They were married 62 beautiful years.

Carl served as a humble mentor, guide, and supporter to those around him.  His sugar free advice, fierce love, and encouragement led many to faith, successful careers, and stronger family ties.  Faith and family were everything to Carl, and he died a happy man, eager to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunite with loved ones.

Carl is survived by his wife Thelma Bonice; daughters Angie (Don) Watson and Kathy (Mark) Piekkola; kinship son, Scott (Carla) Lyman; grandchildren Katie (Adam) Currie, Josh Ray, Amy McCartney (Ty Rabine), Stephanie (Mike) Villella, and Taylor (Joe) Connelly, 3 great grandchildren, sister Lula (John) Dawson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ken Bonice, and brothers Chuck, Joe, and David Bonice.
