Carl "Skip" Louis Asplint, Jr., age 63, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home in Warba, Minnesota.

Carl was born on October 3, 1960, in Camden County, New Jersey to Carl Louis, Sr., and Marie (Packer) Asplint. Carl spent the first 10 years of his life in Haddon Heights, New Jersey before moving with his family to Warba, Minnesota.

In 1986 he joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Comfort. He was a 2nd Class Machinists Mate Petty Officer until his honorable discharge following 13 years of service to his country.

Carl was an extremely patriotic and determined sailor who loved his country very much. He was also incredibly helpful and kind to people in need. Carl loved to make people laugh and was a very fun-loving individual.

Carl was preceded in death by his mother Marie; brother-in-law Jerry Sansburn; nephew Steven Shoemaker.

Carl is survived by his father Carl Louis, Sr; sisters Karen (Dave) Heikkila, Trudy (Jeff) Shoemaker, Darlene Sansburn; son Josh McCartney & family; grandson Ethen McCartney & family; nieces and nephews Kayla Bloyer & family, Kyle Sansburn and family, Krista Benjamin & family, David Heikkila, Jr & family, Heather Green & family, Nicole Rasmussen & family, Daric Shoemaker & family, Landon Shoemaker & family, and Blair Shoemaker & family; former wife Bonnie Emeno and step children Emily Hickman, Steven Pai and Ashley McLure.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Warba, MN. Reverend Mark Wagner will officiate. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Duluth, MN at a later date.
