Charles "Chuck"
L. Braford
d. Nov 13, 2023
Charles "Chuck" Lumie Braford, age 64, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13th, 2023, surrounded by his children at Diamond Willow in Grand Rapids.
Chuck was born on April 11th, 1959, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Charles and Helen (Domke) Braford. He spent his early years in Cohasset, Minnesota until the family's move to Renton, Washington in 1962. Returning to Cohasset in 1971, Chuck graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1978. Chuck worked for various construction and logging companies throughout his life. He was proud to be a member of the Laborers Local 1097 Union and worked many years at the Boswell Energy Center for Lakehead Constructors where he made numerous lifelong friends.
Chuck found solace and joy in the companionship of horses. He was especially good at training them. He took great pleasure in sharing his knowledge, teaching countless children how to ride. Though he did find peace exploring the woods and the trails alone, he always welcomed company. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but above all, he was a devoted father to his children and a cherished grandfather to his four adored grandchildren.
Chuck's life was marked by his unwavering friendship and his selflessness in aiding others. Whether it was a helping hand or a kind word, Chuck was always there when needed. His infectious spirit, warm heart, and sense of humor including being the ultimate prankster made him a great friend to many.
Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Braford and his parents, Charles and Helen Braford.
He is survived by his three daughters: Julie (Micah) Hovet, Karla Braford, and Leah Braford (Justin Hager); his son, Craig (Kourtney) Braford; four grandchildren who he absolutely adored: Gaige Bowman, RoseMary Braford, Charles J. Braford, and Ellis Hovet; his sisters: Gail Feldt, Brenda (Terry) Felix, and Lorraine (Mike) Evans; two bonus grandchildren, Jason and Amara; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were very important to him.
