Christella "Chris" Makinen, 86, passed away leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Chris was an amazing Christian woman with a loving heart and a gift for making everyone around her feel special. She was deeply loved and adored by so many and was a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Chris grew up in Nimrod, Minnesota, on her family farm. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Denny Krmpotich and Jack Makinen, along with her mother, father, and two sisters.

She also mourned the loss of her beloved bonus daughter, Jackie Figgins, who passed away last November.

She leaves behind her brother, Danny; her beloved bonus daughter, Sandy Wagner (Bret); her bestest friend, Esther Savage; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

Chris was more than a bonus mom—she was family, a dear friend, and a special part of so many lives. Her faith, love, and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

We find comfort knowing she is now at peace and with her Lord and Savior.

Until we meet again, Chris. You were loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten.

A memorial service for Christella will be held at Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, on Monday, August 24, 2026. A visitation hour will begin at 10:00am, with services beginning at 11:00am.
