Colleen Elaine Smith, age 72, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, surrounded by her family at her daughter's home after a courageous two-year battle with AML.

Colleen was born in 1952 to Robert and Elaine Mickelson in Grand Rapids, MN and graduated from Greenway High School. After graduation, Colleen worked as a cook at the Itasca Memorial Hospital and at Treasure Bay Printing before becoming a pharmacy technician. She was united in marriage to Larry Smith on September 14, 1973.

Colleen enjoyed thrift stores, garage sales, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, cooking, ceramics, and working in the yard gardening. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and helping loved ones when needed.

Colleen is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, David and Bob. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry; children, Robyn (Mickey) DeVlaeminck of Madison Lake, MN, Jeff (Jen) Smith of Maple Grove, MN; brother, Ed (Ruth) Carter; sister, Carol (Harold) Preble; and grandchildren, Ethan and Cooper.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 5:00-7:00PM at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN and will continue on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Fr. Blake Rozier will be officiating. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
