David Alan Norlander, age 65, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Wednesday, April 10, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

David was born in 1958 to Dennis and Patricia Norlander in Duluth, Minnesota. He graduated from East High School in 1976, and then attended University of Minnesota, Duluth where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting. David worked for various companies, going in and helping businesses get started. He referred to himself as a "CPA mercenary at large".

David loved everything sports, from collecting memorabilia and sports cards, to attending many UMD hockey games. One of his greatest joys was coaching little league baseball. He had the privilege of even taking a team to Kansas City for the Little League national championship. He was extremely proud when he could watch a UMD baseball game and say, "I got to coach that player."

David had few hobbies, but he was very passionate about the few he had. He was proud to say he had seen the band Rush in concert 28 different times! David loved everything Tolkien, Lord of the Rings; often having the movies play continuously at home. His family said he was great at puns and bad dad jokes. David will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his father; brother, Steven; and sisters-in-law, Jane and Sharla.

David is survived by his daughter, Lindsey (Alex Korthals); mother, Patricia; companion, Melody; and brothers, Paul (Kristin), Mark (Dawn), and Bruce.

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1108 East 8th street, Duluth, MN on April 27, 2024 beginning at 11:00 AM, lasting until 3:00 PM.
