David
Vinson
d. Sep 7, 2025
Deer River
David Vinson, age 72, died peacefully at his home, on September 7, 2025. He was born in Stanford, KY on June 21, 1953 to Clyde Louis and Dorothy Louella (Hogue) Vinson. He grew up in Wilmore, KY, exploring the caves and playing baseball, graduating from Jessamine County High School in 1971. Shortly after that, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
Dave was a hard worker, sometimes having as many as three jobs. He was a Master Electrician and retired from Florida East Coast Railway, where he was a Signal Maintainer. After retirement, he worked some more, the last job being the Gambling Manager at the Deer River Vets Club/American Legion Post 122.
Dave was a proud veteran, golfer, fisherman, and traveler, but his favorite role by far was being a father and grandfather. He made sure that the freezer was well stocked with ice cream and chocolate sauce, and second helpings were allowed.
Dave is survived by his wife of 48 years, Christine Quaal Vinson; daughter, Amanda (Brendan) Grubbs; grandson, Maximus Alexander Grubbs, and granddaughter, Nova Wren Grubbs. He is also survived by siblings, Edith Vinson, Michael (Sandi) Vinson, Janet (James) Griffin, John (Wanda) Vinson; in-laws Chuck and Liz Elton, and honorary brother, Ron (Rosemary) Danielson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Dorothy Vinson; brother, Clyde "Louie" Vinson; in-laws, Gilbert and Jean Quaal, and his little yapping best friend, Barney Vinson.
Per Dave's request, there will be no funeral services, but a gathering of friends will be held at later in September at the Vets Club in Deer River.
It's not goodbye, it's "See you later!"
