Dawnita "Tootsie" C. Moore, age 81, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at her home.
Dawnita was born in 1943 in Robbinsdale, MN to Myron and Avis Flinck. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1961. On November 26, 1960, she was united in marriage to William Moore in Grand Rapids, MN. Dawnita worked as a cook and baker for Leisure Hills Nursing Home, Itasca Community College Cafeteria, Weefolksgarten, Bridgeman's, and First Grade Restaurant. In the summers, she worked as a cook for Camp Mishawaka for many years. Dawnita enjoyed knitting and she was active at First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Release Time, and LWML.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ron Flinck; and sister-in-law, Sonja Flinck.
Dawnita is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, William "Bill"; four children; Sherri (Charles) DeYoung of Cohasset, MN, Bradly Moore of Grand Rapids, MN, Michelle Moore-Lehman of Grand Rapids, MN, and Maria (Brian) Baker of Farmington, MN; one brother, Dale (Kim) Flinck of Grand Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Ben (Nicole) Jetland, Seth (Jessica) Jetland, Rachel Lehman, Jennifer Lehman, Alyssa Baker, and Danielle Borcherding; great grandchildren, Emily, Jacen, Sam, Noah, Abram, Jude, Eleanor, Aiden, Nolan, Faith, Lilly, and Gavin; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, MN beginning at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. Rev. Patrick Lovejoy and Rev. William Zeige will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors of Moment's Hospice for their wonderful care.
