Delores M. (Aiton) (Herdman) Rima, age 93, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at River Grand Senior Living, Grand Rapids, MN.

Delores was born to Gerald and Catherine (Bjork) Aiton on February 20, 1931, in Grand Rapids.  She attended schools in Grand Rapids, graduating in the class of 1949.

She married Dean Herdman, and they raised their four children in the Danube Location, Taconite, and Bovey.  After the children were all in school, Delores worked as a secretary at Itasca Junior College and with School District 316 for 31 years.

After Dean's death, Delores married Mert Rima.  In 1997, she and Mert moved to a home (built by her father) on the Mississippi River in Grand Rapids.  She liked to tell people she lived only 150 feet from where she was born in her great-grandmother's home on the river.

She loved traveling, and traveled extensively.  She especially enjoyed her class reunions, helping to plan all of them over the years.  After she retired, she helped her son at his convenience store in Coleraine.  Her talents included sewing for family and friends and creating beautiful centerpieces and one-of-a-kind Christmas wreaths.

Delores was a member of the First United Church of Coleraine, the Community Presbyterian Church of Grand Rapids, the Eagles, and the Eastern Star of Coleraine and Grand Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her first husband; parents and grandparents; sister, Geraldine Rowe; brother, Bruce Aiton; grandson, Jay MacNeil. She is survived by her husband, Mert; four children:  Nancy (Dave) Warneke, Denise (Dee Jones) Herdman, Janet MacNeil, and Boomer Herdman; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Vern Aiton; sister, Kathy (John) Pliska; Mert's children:  Denise Bohrer; David (Susan) Rima; and families.

Resilient in life as in death, she will be remembered as a hard worker with a generous heart, especially for the elderly. A special thank you from our family to St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate and excellent care they provided.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.  Mary Shideler will officiate.  Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, MN.
