Dennis G. Laney, age 66, died Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Dennis Gerald Laney was born October 21, 1957 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Gerald and Jean (Julien) Laney.  Dennis attended school in Grand Rapids.  After school, he moved away from Minnesota and worked in Montana and Alaska before returning to Grand Rapids.  Upon returning to Minnesota, Dennis purchased his own semi-truck where he hauled grain, was leased to a logging company, and concluded his career at Hawkinson Construction.

He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need and was an extremely hard-working man.   When time allowed, he enjoyed fishing and truly loved deer hunting.  Spending time with his grandchildren always made him happy.

Dennis is survived by his children and grandchildren, Terra and Francis Sobolik and their children, George, Emmett, and Shelby Sobolik and Adam and Deb Laney and their son, Peter Laney; his mother, Jean Long; two sisters, Patty Holman and Kathy Newman; other relatives and many good friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Laney and his brother, Mark Laney.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
