Dennis LeRoy Wakefield Sr., age 81, of Warba, MN, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at his home.

Dennis was born in 1943 to Joseph and Agnes (Rafinski) Wakefield in Cass Lake, MN. He attended school in Chisholm and spent three years in the Navy. During his military service Dennis was stationed in Cuba during the Bay of Pigs Invasion.  On July 25, 1964, Dennis was united in marriage to Marjorie Walters.  Dennis and Marjorie raised their family and resided south of Warba for the last 59 years. Dennis had a long career as an industrial painter with the Painters Union #106, retiring in 2005. He loved hunting, fishing, and living in the country. In his younger days he was active in Golden Gloves Boxing.  Dennis will be remembered for his huge garden and berry picking.  His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride & joy!

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Joseph, Edward, James, and Mike; sisters, Florence, Vivian, and Dolly. Dennis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; children, Judy (Paul) Kaczor, Jill (Steve) Ugrich, Dennis Wakefield Jr., and Douglas Wakefield; sister, Doris Groce; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

A visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, MN with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM.  Father Blake Rozier will officiate.  Interment with full military honors will be at Sago Cemetery in Sago Township, Itasca County.
