Donald Duane Dorholt, age 87, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota peacefully passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on May 23rd.  Don was in Autumn Lane Assistant Living facility in Cohasset, MN.  Don was surrounded by family, friends and excellent care givers along with the supportive prayers of many family and friends.

Don was born in 1936 to Hurschel and Margel Dorholt of St. Paul, Minnesota.  Don was a 1954 graduate of Grand Rapids High School.  Don attended Itasca Community College for one semester before moving to St. Paul, Minnesota. Don started working in the Twin Cities in the tile and stone business.

In 1957 Don and Sheila Whitted were married and resided in St Paul, MN.  They had Tim, Mark, and Denise.  In 1966 the family moved to Grand Rapids, shortly afterwards Brad was born.  Don worked out of his home while establishing himself in the Grand Rapids Area.  Don and Dorholt Tile quickly gained the gold standard for quality, installations, and ethical business practices.  While living in Grand Rapids, Don became an avid whitetail hunter, fisherman and was always in tune with GRHS athletics.

To know Don was to know a deep man of faith.  Don's faith was integrated into every aspect of his life.  His business, his marriage and his commitment to a daily prayer life, daily devotions and consistently reaffirming the Grace and Goodness of God.  Don was also a family man.  Don's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were always very important to him.  Nothing seemed to brighten his day more than spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 1999, Don and Sheila became snowbirds and wintered in Arizona.  Don was involved in pickle ball, tennis, hiking and played softball.  Don and Sheila were always involved in their church, mission trips, Bible studies and Monte Vista activities.  The friendships that were developed and maintained over many years were a great blessing.

Don is preceded in death by his wife Sheila Dorholt; eldest son, Timothy Dorholt; his parents, Hurschel and Margel Dorholt; father and mother in-law, Lloyd and Vera Whitted.

Don is survived by children, Mark (Mary) Dorholt, Denise (Steve) Gooch, and Brad Dorholt;  brothers, Dennis Dorholt, Darryl (Betty) Dorholt; sisters, Donna (Don) Harthan and Doreen (Jerry) Roquet;  7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday May 30, 2024, at the Grand Rapids Evangelical Free Church at 34384 Co Rd 63, Grand Rapids, MN 55744 beginning at 10:00 AM and lasting until the 11:00 AM memorial service. Burial will be a Wildwood Cemetery. Rev. Micah Labovitch will officiate.
