Donald Hanson, 63, a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, MN passed away unexpectedly working at his beloved occupation.

Donald Christopher Hanson was born July 11, 1961, in Grand Rapids, MN, the son of William and Muriel Hanson. Educated at Grand Rapids High School, he eventually found his passion in the transportation industry, driving trucks for various companies including Norland Sanitary Services in Warba, and most recently American Disposal in Deer River.

Donald's enthusiasm for car racing was a central part of his identity. As a former dedicated caretaker of the Grand Rapids Speedway and mini stock car racer, his commitment to the sport was unwavering. The annual trip to the thrilling World of Outlaws races in Cedar Lake, WI, with his son and grandson, were treasured journey that encapsulated his love for racing. Donald also enjoyed watching birds and spending time with his loving family.

Donald is survived by his wife Paula; son Jake (Tasha) Hanson; grandkids: Kenzie and Damion Hanson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Sue Hanson; brothers: Doug and Henry Hanson.
