Donald V. Wahlstrom, Jr, age 78, of Grand Rapids peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by family, on March 28, 2025.
Growing up on the LaPlant Road, Don knew at a young age who the love of his life was and would spend the rest of his days proving his unwavering devotion to the neighbor girl. They were united in marriage June 11, 1965, in Watertown, SD accompanied by their best friends. Don and Jeanne (Weller) raised 5 children, and, throughout the years, loved upon multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved and was exceedingly proud of his family and was involved in each of their lives. He was honored for any help that he could provide, when the kids would call and ask "Mom, is dad there? Can I talk to him? I have a question."
He was born, raised, and graduated from Grand Rapids in 1964 where he nourished friendships and close bonds over the years, where he was excited to see, reminisce, and laugh with during weekly coffee group, annual snow-birding trips, motorcycle group meetings, and the bus garage team.
Don was initiated into the Masonic Wayzata Lodge 205 on March 21, 1973 and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on May 23, 1973 where he lived as a man of high virtuous standards, leading as his moral-compass in life. Don was a Past Associate Guardian of the International Order of Job's Daughters, Bethel 12, Grand Rapids. He was also involved in other multiple organizations that were close to his heart and his beliefs, including the Minneapolis Police Reserves, Anoka County Posse', and the Patriot Guard.
Don is preceded in death by his father and mother, Donald V. Wahlstrom, Sr and Florence "Lorraine" Wahlstrom, and his young daughter, Jennifer Joy. Survived by his most loving and devoted wife, Jeanne Wahlstrom, five other children, Carla (Tim) Henning, Robert (Kim) Wahlstrom, Patrick (Stacey) Wahlstrom, Amy (Derrick) McAlister, Donald V. (Tricia) Wahlstrom III, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren plus another due in August.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Missy Eiden, RN from 4U Home Health Care and Zach and other nurses from St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they gave.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with Masonic last rights being held at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids, MN beginning at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 funeral service.
