Donald William Watson of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital. He moved to Minnesota upon his retirement from the US Army in February 1977.

Don is survived by his wife, JoAnn M. (Winckler) Watson of Grand Rapids; sister, Shirley Jones (Fl); son, Daniel; daughter, Debra; six grandchildren, Audrey, Andrew, Aonelle, Ada, Erick and Asia. A nephew and several nieces. Three stepchildren, Kathleen (Winckler) Coffman; Lisa (Winckler) Logan (Tom) and Douglas Winckler (Paula). Eight bonus Grandchildren, Kelsey, Kennedy, Jarrid, Jordyn (Brice) Jayla, Billy, Rudy (Amanda) and Sara (Jack) and two Great Grandchildren, Logan and Kinsley.

Don received numerous awards during his military service, including two Meritorious Service Medals, The Bronze Star, and Vietnam Service Medal. He was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, and enjoyed remodeling his home.

Memorial services will be held at Northland Bible Baptist Church on January 31, 2024, at 11:00 am with viewing at 10:00 am. Burial of ashes at Itasca Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in the Veterans section.
