Doris Johanna Manella, age 93, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Doris was born in 1931 to Walker and Catherine Jackson in Grand Rapids, MN where she grew up and attended school.  She worked at Mickey's Café in Grand Rapids, MN where she would meet her husband. On November 1, 1954, Doris was united in marriage to Lawrence "Buddy" Manella in Grand Rapids, MN where they raised a family. Doris was employed with Independent School District 318 where she was a head cook and retired in 1996. She loved embroidery, crocheting, making baby blankets for the organization Moms in Need, gardening, cooking and baking.

Doris preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence "Buddy"; five infant children; two sisters, Virginia Jackson, and Kathy Bartick; brother, Rodney Jackson; and son-in-law, Tim Nelson. She is survived by her children, Lynn (Ron) Salisbury of Negaunee, MI, Mary Nelson of Eden Prairie, MN, Lawrence "Larry" (Ruth) Manella of Grand Rapids, MN, and Patrick Manella of Grand Rapids, MN; stepdaughter, Patty (Harold) Dziuk of Grand Rapids, MN; sister, Laura (Dick) Hughes of Chico, CA; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, MN.   Fr. Jerry Weiss officiated.  Burial was at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN.
