Obituary

Dorothy June Wourms, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Sugar Brook Villa in Cohasset, Minnesota with her daughter and family at her side.

Dorothy June Roquet Wourms was born October 20, 1928 in Arlington, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Sadie (Curtis) Roquet.  She attended schools in Cohasset, Minnesota.  On October 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Royal N. Wourms at the courthouse in Itasca County, Minnesota.  They made their home at 1075 Central Avenue, Cohasset, MN from 1946 on and raised their family of four children at this location.

Dorothy enjoyed being involved in civic and community organizations including: PTA, The Red Hat Society, Minnesota Restaurant Association, Cohasset Birthday Club, T.O.P.S. as well as the Cohasset 500 Club.  Dot was also an active member at St. Augustine's Catholic Church.

In 1970, along with her husband Roy, they purchased the Frosty Top Drive-in and opened "Roy and Dot's Restaurant" which they owned and operated for 30 years.  Dot's cooking for others began when she was a senior in high school and worked in the dining room at the ag school (the present Itasca Community College). She then worked as a cook's helper in the Cohasset School. From there, she went to the Frosty Drive-in and finally to Roy and Dot's. Their restaurant became a family restaurant. When Roy and Dot Wourms purchased the business, it was a Drive-in that could be operated only during the summer months but soon a dining area was added that would serve guests year-round and when that was a success, they added the prime rib buffet room and private dining room.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Royal "Roy" in 2002, daughter, Linda Wourms, sons, Randy Wourms and Ricky Wourms.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her daughter, Laurie (Mark) Avenson; grandchildren, Eric Wourms and Melinda (Ryan) Jensen; great granddaughter, Mahala Wourms; daughters-in-law, Norma Wourms and Nyna Wourms; brother, Jerry (Doreen) Roquet; other relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be planned at a later time.
