Dudley "Gene" Beaty, age 82, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Diamond Willow in Grand Rapids, MN.

Gene was born in 1942 to Fred and Alice Beaty in Grand Rapids, MN. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1962, then served in the United States Navy. Gene was united in marriage to Arlene Schjenken on July 14, 1963 in Grand Rapids, MN. He was employed as a millwright with Blandin Paper Company for 30 years. Gene owned and operated Beaty's Small Engine Repair and later owned and operated A to Z Small Engine Parts with his wife, Arlene. In his retirement, he worked various jobs including alongside his friend, Wayne Cole, at Cole's Hardware. Gene retired at the age of 74.

Gene was a member of First Church of God and had a deep relationship with his Savior, Jesus. He was also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, and Diablos Car Club. Gene and Arlene traveled to 49 states on their motorcycle.  He enjoyed stamp collecting, playing guitar, and inventing things. He loved boating on Pokegama, where he and Arlene lived for 38 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Karl Beaty; and sisters-in-law, Barb and Jari Beaty. Gene is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene; daughters, Suzette (Joe) Childs and Doris (Mike) Olson both of Grand Rapids, MN; brothers, Robert "Bob" (Cass) Beaty of Philadelphia, PA, and Tom Beaty of Cohasset, MN; seven grandchildren, Jozette (Jhosay Peralta) Black, Scot Black, Zachary (Nevada) Childs, Sarah (Luke) Smith, Jenna (Chad) Nelson, Mitch (Carrie) Olson, and Myles (Crystal) Olson; 10 great-grandchildren, Santiago Peralta-Black, Harper and Tripp Nelson, Tayva, Willow, Mikko and Bowen Olson, Opie, Griffin and Brisco Olson; and honorary brother, Ben Pettis of Spokane, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 at First Church of God in Grand Rapids, MN beginning at 2:00 PM and lasting until the 3:00 PM memorial service with full military honors to follow at the church. Pastor Dale Steele will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Wildwood Cemetery in Cohasset, MN.
