Edwin L. Maki, 78 of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on July 30, 2023.

Ed grew up on a farm in Cloverdale with his parents, Lauri and Gerstie (Ala) Maki and his sister, Evelyn.  In 1963, Ed graduated from Greenway High School and married his high school sweetheart, Linda Waters.  They became the parents of three children, David, Robin, and Renee.   David passed away in 1977.

Ed was a barber and a co-owner of Duffy's Barber Shop from 1968 to 1982.  He then followed his passion for cars and operated a small car dealership until his retirement.  Throughout his two careers, Ed made many friends that became very important to him.

Working on cars, going to Car Shows, all kinds of music and travel were hobbies that Ed enjoyed.  Ed and Linda spent 33 winters in Florida where they made lifetime friends, volunteered for Disney, and enjoyed the warm weather.

Ed will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Linda; his two daughters, Robin Renollet and Renee Johnson (Jon Solberg); four grandchildren, Jenica Vizenor (Andrew O'Gorman), Jacob Renollet, Alex Renollet (Danielle Donaldson), and Kerstie (Jeff) Johnson; five great grandchildren, Aurora, Ian, Duncan, Winnie, and Decker; nieces, nephews, cousins and former son-in-law, Tony Renollet.

Ed is preceded in death by his son, David Maki; parents, Lauri and Gerstie Maki; and his sister, Evelyn Ketola.

A Celebration of Ed's Life will be held at 4:30 PM on Friday, August 4, 2023, in Grand Rapids United Methodist Church, 1701 SE 5th Avenue, Grand Rapids with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 3:30 PM.  A family interment service will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota.
