Edward
Beer
d. Apr 15, 2024
Grand Rapids
Edward Willard Beer, age 79, of Grand Rapids Minnesota, passed away April 15, 2024, at his home in Blackberry Township Minnesota. Ed was a lifelong resident of BlackBerry Township.
Edward (Ed) was born on June 19, 1944, to Herbert and Lillian Beer in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. From an early age, Ed worked on the family farm. There wasn't a tractor, or a piece of machinery made that Ed couldn't run. Ed looked forward to fall, which meant corn chopping was close. Ed loved to run the corn chopper, and over his lifetime chopped thousands of acres of corn.
Ed enjoyed fishing, both in summer and in his icehouse in the winter months. He was known for sharing the fish he caught with family. On one fishing adventure to Little Split Hand Lake in the winter, he caught a 20 lb. 42 inch northern. In a story in the Herald Review Newspaper, Ed stated it was the largest fish he had ever caught. Ed was also an avid hunter, spending time in many western states with his friend Gary hunting elk, mule deer and antelope.
Later in life Ed took up the family tradition of gardening, as well as giving all the extra produce to family and friends.
Ed is survived by his brother, Marvin; sister, Marilyn; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lillian; brother Don; sisters-in-law DeEtte, and Millie.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
