Edward Jerold Lauer, 87 of Grand Rapids, passed away on July 19, 2023, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital, Grand Rapids, MN.

Edward was born February 1, 1936, to Edward Joseph Lauer and Francis Sylvie (Kleckner) Lauer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The family moved to Grand Rapids in 1937. He attended grade schools in Grand Rapids and Togo. They moved to Washington State in 1949 where he attended high school. He returned to Minnesota in 1953, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955, where he completed his high school education and served as a military policeman. Ed married Lucille Joan Petz April 7, 1956, in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.

Ed worked in various jobs in gas stations, maintenance, and housekeeping, as his health permitted. In 1985, he and his wife established Blueberry Meadows, a premiere pick your own blueberry farm that they operated for the next 33 years.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Henry, Roy, Washington; daughter in law, Renie F. Lauer; and granddaughter, Amber Jean Trebil.  He is survived by wife of 67 years, Lucille "Lucy"; daughter, Carol (Loren) Edison, St. Francis MN; sons, William "Bill" (Pam Fore), and Edward "Jay" (Becky), Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren, Tony, Clayton, Lucky, Joe, Brody, Jackie, Jaylynn, and Libbey; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Aubrey, Oliver and Kimber.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at First Church of God, 609 NW 4th Ave., Grand Rapids with a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of the service.   Interment with full military honors will be held at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery.
