Eunice L. LaPlant, age 96, of Grand Rapids, MN, died Monday, May 11, 2026, at Autumn Lane Assisted Living, Cohasset, MN.

Born 1929 to Frederick and Lillian Sampson in Hibbing, MN. She attended and graduated from Hibbing High School. Eunice worked as a bell hop at the Androy Hotel in Hibbing, MN. She married Lawrence LaPlant, who was from Grand Rapids, on February 18, 1950. They lived in a rustic cabin on the lake then moved to their permanent residence on Crystal Springs Road. They had one phone number their entire lives, 218-326-2229. Eunice loved gardening, pets, and nursing injured wildlife. She was a prayer warrior to so many! Her two greatest sorrows in life were the death of lil Jerry, just after birth, and her first born, Jim, who was afflicted with physical and mental limitations due to cerebral palsy and epileptic seizures. What a reunion it must have been for them inside the gate of Heaven!

Eunice loved the Lord and had a strong faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

"For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16.

Eunice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; sons, Gerald, and James; sister, Rosetta DuFault; brother, Chester Sampson; and sons-in-law, Robert Pinette, and Patrick Selmser.

She survived by her daughters, Pamela Selmser, Linda (Ken) Bruce, and Susan Pinette; son, Gary (Tammie) LaPlant; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN and lasting until the 1:00 PM graveside service at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MN. Pastor Timothy Graf will officiate.

In case of inclement weather, funeral services will be moved to Northland Bible Baptist Church, 2026 Northland St, Grand Rapids, MN.
