Obituary

Gary Ralph Black died at the Essentia St Mary's Hospital on Saturday, October 26th surrounded by his wife and children.

Gary was born in Northwood, North Dakota on September 6th, 1952. Upon finishing his schooling, Gary spent 39 years working as a Union Electrician where he traveled the country including the North East corner of the states. Gary also met many people and enjoyed many stories as co-owner of the River Road Liquor Store in Grand Rapids with his wife, Linda.

Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman, having adventures in Wyoming, Canada, and throughout Minnesota. Gary spent much of the later part of his life with his wife, children, and family at his cabin in the woods, filling the shack book with stories, playing cards at the table, and roaming his land looking for tracks and enjoying the outdoors.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Evy Black; his grandson, Cole Wishart Black; and his two best friends, Mike and Corey.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda Black; daughter, Kelsey Black; son, Matthew (Jasmine) Black; grandchildren, Alicia, Austin, and Nathaniel; great-grandchildren, Natalia and Matias; sister, Sheila (Dan) Purkat; niece, Kim (Jay); nephew, Nick; additional family members include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria, Karen, Kenny (Jamie); and niece Kimberly (Scott).
