Gary Fredrick Heinrich, age 74, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota passed away surrounded by family on Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home.

Gary was born on May 15th, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. In the 1970's, he left Minnesota to work on the pipeline in Alaska, where he built a life, met his wife, and raised his two children.

Later in life, he returned home to Minnesota to live in his childhood home.

Gary had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid skeet shooter competing in different competitions across Minnesota. He was also a proud member of the Grand Rapids Gun Club. Gary also took great pride in his lawn, treating it less like grass and more like a full-time responsibility. If there was a single weed in sight, he was already halfway across the yard with a plan, and it didn't stand a chance. He was also known for his sense of humor and his belief that "Family is all you got".

He will be remembered for his quick wit and the way he could make people laugh. Even in his final days, he was still cracking jokes with his son Kyle.

His last days were spent surrounded by those who loved him most-his son, Kyle, his daughter, Julie, and his daughter-in-law, Jen.

He is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Brink and Patricia (Bruce) Duvlea; his son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Jenniffer Heinrich; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jason Bays. His cherished grandchildren, Chase Hoyt and Mia Bays, who he loved deeply and spoke of often.  Also, Gary is survived by his longtime friend, Ed Jewett. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Keith Heinrich; his mother, Loretta Heinrich; and brother–in-law and good friend, Jim Brink.  While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who went before him, no doubt greeting him with love and familiar smiles.

A private memorial service will be held.
