Gary James Tallman , age 80, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, February 19, 2023 in Deer River, MN.

Gary was born in 1942 in Culver City, CA to George and Ethel (Donovan) Tallman. He grew up in St. Louis Park, MN and graduated from St. Louis Park high school. He served four years in the United States Navy and had the honor of picking up the astronaut Alan Shepard after the re-entry to earth. Gary moved back to Minneapolis after he was discharged and went to Northwest Technical College and worked at several big companies in Minnesota, retiring as District Manager for Fujitsu Corporation in 1962. Gary married Marilyn MacLeod in 1962 in St. Louis Park, MN. They lived in Hennepin County until 2005 when they made Deer River in Itasca County their home. He was a member of the Experiment AirCraft Association and built two home-built aircrafts. Gary loved flying, electronics, hunting and fishing. He had many interests and researched them all extensively to fruition.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; and brother George Tallman. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Donna (Jeff) Ahlman; son, Maxx MacLeod; brothers, John Tallman, and Bill Tallman; and two grandchildren, Nash, and Brittney.

There will be a private family burial at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
