Gary L. Warner, age 74, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at his home.

Gary was born on September 4, 1950, to Lyle and Lorraine (Street) Warner in Mankato MN.  Gary started elementary school in Rapidan MN and later moved with his family to a farm in Madelia, MN.  Gary graduated from Madelia High School in 1968.  During his school years Gary was very involved in FFA and 4H. He enjoyed showing animals at the fair, especially hogs. After high school, he attended Mankato Vocation School and earned a degree in Production Agriculture. He worked for the next 20 years in partnership with his Father until a fire in one of their barns and health issues changed his career path.  After farming he worked for three Farmers Cooperatives in Central MN; Centra Sota, Glencoe Butter & Produce and Hutchinson Farmers Co-op until he retired in 2015.

Gary met Julie Flom in 1973, and they were married in 1974 at Urland Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, MN.  Gary and Julie lived and raised their two children, Brian and Kristina in Madelia and South Haven before moving to Grand Rapids in 2018.

Gary loved parties and he was always interested in getting together with friends and family. He adored his three grandchildren and rarely missed any of their events.  He loved attending Class Reunions, Neighborhood Picnics, Church Pot Lucks and Family Reunions.  Gary enjoyed playing softball and bowling in his youth and enjoyed playing cards several times a week, especially Euchre and 500 after he retired.

Gary loved being part of a Church family and was a life-long Presbyterian.   Each time Gary and Julie moved, Gary found a Presbyterian Church he could join and support.  He served as an Elder, Clerk or Trustee in four different Presbyterian Church Communities.

After moving to Grand Rapids, Gary volunteered at the Reif Center. He loved working the front door and talking to all the guests.  He especially liked working with their children's shows and senior programs.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Bradly, stepmother Grace, Brother in-law Stan Rasmussen and sister in-law Mary Flom.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Julie of 50 years, his son Brian and wife Jill, granddaughter Isabel Warner, daughter Kristina Lindahl and her husband Ken, and two grandsons Kenny and Michael Lindahl, sister Connie Rasmussen, in-laws Pam and Steve Tralle, Daryl and Kathy Bergs, Eric and Mel Flom, Evan Flom, three nieces and one nephew and his many friends.

Memorials preferred to the Community Presbyterian Church

A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., November 23, 2024, at the Community Presbyterian Church, 703 Pokegama Avenue N., Grand Rapids, MN 55744 with a one-hour visitation prior to service at the church.
