Gay Edith Schaar, age 81, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at her home.

Gay was born in 1944 in Hibbing, MN to Albert and Edith Clemens.  She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1962.  Gay was employed with Blandin Paper Company in the nurse's office and later with Itasca County Auditor/Treasurer.  On February 2, 1998, Gay was united in marriage to Wayne Schaar. In 1988, they made their home in Grand Rapids, MN.  Gay loved to play bingo, have lunch with friends, and most of all she was a loving wonderful mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Dana Beckers; three brothers, Jack, Tom, and Albert Clemens; and two sisters, Mable Johnson and Nellie McDonald.

Gay is survived by Danielle Beckers of Grand Rapids, MN, and Joelle Holsman (Monk Allison) of Cohasset, MN; two sons, Kent (Anne) Beckers of Maple Grove, MN and Ross (Joyel) Beckers of Baxter, MN; two step-children, Kenneth (Julie) Schaar of Cohasset, MN, and Jerrad (Katie) Schaar of North Dakota; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Gay's life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Morse Town Hall, Deer River, MN.
