Gloria Anderson, age 87, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, at Oak Hills Assisted Living, Grand Rapids, MN.

Gloria was born in 1936 to Willie and Thelma Sawchuk in Fort Frances, Ontario. She graduated from International Falls High School in 1954 and married Bruce Anderson in 1958. Bruce worked as a teacher, and they moved throughout Minnesota, Maine, and Michigan for his work before returning to International Falls in 1967. They raised their family on Rainy Lake until 2006 when they moved to Grand Rapids to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Gloria loved to shop (especially for coats, purses, shoes, candy, and dog treats), spending time with family, cooking large meals, and baking cookies and banana bread. Gloria worked as an optician for Dr. Davey for many years at Vision Optical. She was a member of The Bridge Club for more than 40 years. Gloria and Bruce raised many standard poodles throughout their lives, and we know Gloria was eager to see them again!

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Bruce. She is survived by her son, Dan (Sandy) Anderson; daughter, Cheryl (Brent) Bocnuk; five grandchildren, Grady, Bill (Joanna), Benji, Aspen, and Lacey; two great-grandchildren, Barron and Olivia; sister, Janet (Dale) Madson and their family; sister-in-law, Gail Carlson and her family; and brother-in-law, Craig Anderson.

A visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church in International Falls, MN on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10 am followed by the 11 am memorial service. In lieu of flowers, any charitable donations can be made to Essentia Hospice, Falls Education Foundation, or Borderland Humane Society. Special thanks to Oak Hills Assisted Living and Essentia Hospice for their exceptional care these past months.
