Greg
Vezina
d. Oct 2, 2024
Max
Gregory Lawrence "Greg" Vezina, age 59, of Max, MN, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Deer River Hospital, surrounded by family.
Greg was born April 7, 1965, in Virginia, Minnesota to Larry and Leola (Crisman) Vezina. He grew up in Togo, Minnesota, and graduated with the Class of 1983 from Bigfork High School. Following high school Greg embarked on a long career in the trucking industry.
Greg was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lesley Sweedman on June 3, 1989, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Bigfork, MN. Early on, Greg and Lesley were both involved in trucking. They both drove over the road before settling down to haul locally and raise a large family. Greg continued to make trucking his life work, establishing Vezina Trucking. When he wasn't trucking, he stayed busy with his other passion, logging. In December of 2023 when poor health didn't allow him to continue working, Greg sold his trucking business.
Greg enjoyed hunting deer and grouse, and also fishing, but most of all treasured the time he was able to spend with his family. Family time was spent camping, boating, making trails, ATVing, snowmobiling, and going to zoos, and parks all around Minnesota. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He was an avid outdoorsman and spread the love of the outdoors to all of them whether it was chopping wood or riding on the tractor. Most would describe him as strong and steadfast, but his family knew him as soft, and kind-hearted.
He was preceded in death by son Dakota Vezina; father Larry Vezina; mother-in-law Arlene Sweedman; nephew Jacque LeBlanc.
Greg is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lesley; Children Jordan (Adam) Wooster, Gabriel Vezina, Benjamin Vezina, Reese Vezina, Greg Vezina Jr., Alliandra Vezina, Axel Vezina, Grace Vezina, Kayleigh Vezina; mother Leola Vezina; sisters Sandy (Gino) Anselmo and Julie (Jack) LeBlanc; father-in-law Jake Sweedman; grandchildren Declan and Nolan Wooster, Gabriel Jr, Ryland, and Leliani Vezina.
A visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Bigfork, MN with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:00 PM. Father Jeremy Bock will officiate. Private family interment.
