Hazel D. Hess , age 78, of Hill City, MN died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by family.

Hazel was born in 1944 to Robert and Myrtle Lasater in Sparks Hill, IL. Hazel and William Hess were united in marriage on March 20, 1965, in Illinois. In 1976, they moved to Minnesota to pursue Bill's love of hunting and fishing. Hazel worked for many years as a registered nurse at Grand Itasca Hospital and was a devoted caretaker to her husband and children. She enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, William Jr.; infant son, Lowell; and Bill's daughter, Roxanne.

Hazel is survived by son, James of Aitkin, MN; stepsons, Rolland (Connie), Rodney (Cheryl); brother, Charles Lasater of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be  Monday, April 10, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM and  lasting until the 11:00 AM memorial service  at the United Methodist Church, Hill City, MN.
