Obituary

Helen E. Nohr, age 97, of Cohasset, MN, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.

Helen was born on August 29, 1926, in Plainfield, WI to Ira and Mabel Shippee. After graduating from high school, she married George Nohr on August 29, 1946, in the same house she was born in. In 1963, they moved to Dayton, MN, and later settled in Cohasset, MN in 1993. Helen worked as a tool inspector for Federal Cartridge in Anoka, MN, demonstrating her strong work ethic and dedication to her children. She had a variety of hobbies, including riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, enjoying the outdoors, fishing, and engaging in embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. Helen was known for her determination and ability to succeed in any endeavor she pursued. She also shared a love for travel with her husband, George.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; two brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Chris (Andy) Peterson; sons, Jim (Doreen) Nohr, and Jerry (Beth) Nohr; eight grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren.

The family will be holding a private service at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel and burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
