Henry B. Bennett, 92 of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on September, 14. Henry's family was at his side when he left us to meet the Lord.

Henry was born on Nov. 12, 1931 in Little Falls, MN to Oliver Sr. and Lida Bennett. He attended school in Grand Rapids, MN. Henry married the love of his life, Diana Pratt, on January 29, 1949. Henry lost his wife too soon in 1990. Henry was employed for the Water and Light Company, the Iron Mines, and his last place of employment was the Grand Rapids Blandin Paper Company where he worked for 25 yrs. before retiring.

Henry is survived by his two sons: Eugene (Gail) Bennett and Michael (Kandy) Bennett of Grand Rapids; and his two daughters: Susan (Lee) Thorson of Bovey and Debra (Gary) Nelson of Clara City, MN. Henry was blessed with 14 Grandchildren; 30 Great Grandchildren; and 12 Great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his loving wife Diana and son, Richard; parents Oliver Sr. and Lida Bennett; brothers Eugene Bennett, Oliver Bennett (Jr.); David Bennett; and one sister Olive.

Henry loved hunting and fishing. Henry and Diana loved traveling following Henry's retirement. Henry's son Eugene (Butch) enjoyed hunting with his dad. Henry would give Butch a hard time about his hunting skills. Henry always looked forward to every Tuesday when he would get together with his daughter Sue for lunch and conversation. He would drive by his son Mike's house around 1:30 daily just to check on him. Sometimes he stopped and other times he just drove by. After the passing of his wife, Henry became an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing recipes and trying new recipes. He and his daughter Deb would exchange recipes and talk about new recipes they had tried. Henry always enjoyed when the grandchildren would stop by. He always had miniature candy bars on hand for them.

Henry enjoyed rooting for the Minnesota Lynx, the Twins, the Packers (he also watched the Vikings) and the Minnesota Gophers.
Henry's family would like to extend a most heartfelt thank you to the staff at Grand Itasca; Grand Village and St. Croix Hospice for all the compassion and care given to Henry and his family during this difficult time.

Henry's funeral will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 10:00a.m. until the 11:00am service. Burial will be in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids following the Celebration of Life luncheon.
