Henry Edward Roy, age 92, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away peacefully Monday, December 9, 2024, Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN.

Henry was born February 20, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Hubert and Florestine (Gagner) Roy.  Henry graduated from Grand Rapids High School.

In 1950 Henry was united in marriage to Catherine "Katie" O'Neil.  Henry started out as a carpenter alongside his uncle Arvid Black.  With his building skills, he and his wife Katie of 72 years built their home for their family of nine children.  Henry owned and operated H & R Oil Company in Grand Rapids, and for over 25 years drove school bus for ISD #318.

Henry gave back to the community he loved through many organizations including Jaycees, Moose, Rotary, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, and Lions. He was a lifelong faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids.

Henry was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He loved to spend time outdoors with his brothers, family and friends, and treasured gathering during the holidays with his brothers, sister, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also enjoyed traveling to many different destinations with his wife Katie.

He is survived  his children, Pam (Don) Froid of Brooklyn Park, Diane (Rick) Bailey of Bovey, Mike (Linda) Roy of Grand Rapids, Rene Roy of Grand Rapids, Tim Roy, Grand Rapids, Julie (Dean) Dahline of Cohasset, Joe (Sue) Roy of Cohasset, Beth (Steve) Petersen of Richfield, and Adam (Tammie) Roy of Edina; grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Larry Roy of Grand Rapids, Nancy (Jim) Arnhold of Grand Rapids, Thomas Roy of Arizona, Peggy Roy of Grand Rapids, Wendy Roy of Grand Rapids;  many nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.

Preceded in death by his wife, Kate; parents, Hubert and Florestine Roy; brothers, Bob, Denny, Jerry, Jim; daughter-in-law, Teri Roy; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Roy, Rosemary Roy, Jane Roy.

Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2024, at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, MN followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Father Jerry Weiss will preside. Interment will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, at a later date.
