Ivan S. Brattelid, age 92, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at his home in Marcell, MN.

Ivan Brattelid was born in 1931 in Summit, SD to Ingolf and Sophia Brattelid. After attending school in Summit, SD, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1952-1953. Ivan married Bethene Dorsett, who later preceded him in death in 1993. He owned and operated his own dental laboratory and retired at the age of 65. Ivan met Marion Leimbach, his life partner, and they moved to Marcell in 1997. Ivan had a fondness for his cat, Lulu.  He enjoyed indulging in his artistic talents, particularly rosemaling and other Norwegian art, and was very interested in following his family genealogy.  He also found pleasure in gardening. Ivan was a life-long member of the Sons of Norway and  an active member of Suomi Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir and delighted in singing Norwegian songs.

Ivan is preceded in death by his wife, Bethene; parents; and sister, Iona Pearson. He is survived by his life partner, Marion Leimbach of Marcell, MN; sons, Todd (Linda) Brattelid of Washburn, MO, and Troy (Pam) Brattelid of Granville, ND; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and his cat, Lulu.

The family of Ivan Brattelid would like to thank St. Croix Hospice staff and wonderful neighbors Darrell and Patty who helped Ivan remain at home with their loving care.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Jesse Lake Lutheran Church, Talmoon, MN, at 10 AM followed by a service at 11 AM.
