James Parnell Jerome, age 80, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 at his home.

James was born in 1945 to Joseph and Eva Jerome in Belcourt, ND, where he went to school. He was united into marriage to Linda on October 16, 1971. A proud graduate of North Dakota State University, James dedicated his professional life to serving others. He worked as a chemical dependency counselor and later as a social worker with child protection services—roles that reflected his deep compassion and unwavering commitment to helping those in need.

In 1988, James made Grand Rapids his home, where he embraced the simple joys of life. He found peace in fishing, strumming his guitar, tinkering with cars, and spending time outdoors, often "putzing around the yard" with quiet contentment.

James will be remembered for his generous spirit, gentle humor, and the meaningful impact he made in the lives of others.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; daughter, Kristina Jerome; parents; and siblings. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Alstad, and Amanda Jerome; sister, Gwen Unger; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at St. Joesph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, MN beginning at 10:00 AM and lasting until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
