Janelle Marie Swenson, 42, Cohasset, MN, passed away suddenly in a car accident on August 22nd.  She was born on April 1st, 1984, to Lyn and Debbie Swarthout.

Janelle graduated from Deer River High School in 2002.  She worked for many years as a Direct Support Professional at Orion Corporation and Environmental Services at Essentia Health.

Growing up in the rural West Cohasset area, Janelle grew up fishing, hunting, building forts, riding horses, and running traplines with her dad. She had a tenacious personality, never letting a horse win after being bucked off.  Janelle always got back on.  A self-declared "Rambette" (Rambo) of deer hunting, she was a dedicated hunter and excellent shot, bagging many bucks except the 'da 30-point buck.

She married the love of her life, Josh Swenson.  Josh was her ride-or-die partner in life. Together they raised Jayden, JD, and Josie.  She loved her husband and all her kids fiercely.  She was so excited to be a grandma and was over the moon as she recently welcomed granddaughter Aspen and grandson Arlo into the world.

The Thunderbird Motorcycle Club was a huge part of her life.  Nellie loved riding motorcycles and the friendships that came with that.  She enjoyed motorcycling around MN with the club and even going to Sturgis.

Janelle was active in 4H; loved her dogs, cats, and chickens; actively gardened; canned veggies; and enjoyed using her artistic skills making European mounts.  She founded White Oak Farm and Rabbitry with her kids, raising many Grand Champion rabbits. Working alongside her kids, they entered many rabbits at the local Itasca County Fair. Janelle was compassionate, real, down-to-earth, common sense, loyal, and genuine.  She loved people and cared about others.  She was unjustly taken from us way too young and way too soon in this senseless tragedy, but the POSITIVE imprint Janelle left on her family and friends will be with us FOREVER.

Janelle's faith was in Jesus.  I quote her direct words, "This is my biker's Bible…it was given to me by a group of Christian bikers. I hope this will bring some peace to you as I ride, as it has brought peace to me so many times. God is our Road Captain and my faith is in him.  I hope he doesn't call me home too soon, but when he does, know I am at peace with Him."

Remaining to cherish Janelle's memory are husband, Josh Swenson; children, JD Swenson (Sidnie Casper), Jayden Swenson (Kurt Hager), and Josie Swenson;  her beloved new grandbabies Aspen Hager & Arlo Swenson; parents, Lyn & Debbie Swarthout; mother-in-law, Cheryl Swenson, sister, Jenny & Sam McFadden; brother-in-law Chad & Jen Swenson; nieces Charlotte Moss & Gracelyn McFadden; nephews Sam Jr., Ben, Gideon, and Gabe McFadden; furry friends, Red, Shelby, Daisy, Potato, Pumpkin, and Olivia; many relatives and friends.

Preceding Janelle in death are father-in-law Danny Swenson; grandparents George & Isabelle Allen and Marilyn & Earl Swarthout.

Funeral/Memorial services will be held at Deer River Bible Church on Saturday, August 29th @ 2pm. A visitation will be held an hour prior starting at 1pm.

Interment will be in Cohasset at Wildwood Cemetery.
