Obituary

Janet Brown, age 92 of Remer, Minnesota, left this earth for her eternal home in Heaven on April 13, 2024.

She was born in Longville, MN in 1931. Survived by her loving children; Kathleen Wylie, LuAnne (Scott) Johnson, Cindy (Bruce) Mensing; grandchildren, Kirsten (Jason) Gustafson, Jenny (Chad) Dewhirst, Jeffry John (Kelly) Wylie, Maren Marks, Marissa Johnson, Janna (Maria) Johnson, Kory (Caitlin) Mensing, Nicolee Mensing; great grandchildren; Arica Reesman, Rhae Reesman, Cameron Gustafson, Brandon (Sara) Morgan, Zach Dewhirst, Tanner Wylie, August Marks; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Lilyquist, LaDonna Lilyquist; brother-in-law Gary Bethke; and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her husband and love of her life, Donald Oliver Brown; daughter, Rev. Gloria Anderson, son-in-law Jeffry Wylie; parents, Walter and Freda (Perlenfein) Lilyquist; brothers, Marvin, Eugene, Gordon, Clinton (Buzz); sisters, Murial, Alvina, Lorraine, Gloria, Reva.

Janet grew up on a farm in Longville MN along with her nine siblings. That homestead was the source of a wonderful part of her daughter's growing up. So many gatherings with devoted aunts and uncles and dozens of cousins.

Janet's DASH

Janet married Don on December 29, 1950, and resided and raised four daughters in Remer, MN. Janet was a wonderful wife and mother. Don and Janet were lifelong members of Bethany Lutheran Church and served in many roles throughout their lives. Janet worked for ISD 118 for over 30 years in administrative roles.

Janet led a talent-filled and active life. As a young mother she played on a women's basketball team, taught Sunday school, bible school and led bible studies. She served on church and town councils. Janet made all holidays, especially Christmas, magical. She was an excellent homemaker, seamstress, baker and cook. She enjoyed downhill skiing, biking, camping, and snowmobiling.

Janet was an excellent role model and source of wisdom and support for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Her family celebrates her for a life well lived. The loss of her in our lives will remain with us until the end of our lives.

A visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 18 Cedar St. NW, Remer, MN on Saturday April 27, beginning at 11:00 AM and lasting until the 12:00 PM funeral service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Remer, MN.
