Jay Michael Sobolik, age 63, of Bloomington, MN, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at his home.

Jay was born in 1960 in Paynesville, MN, to Clair and Grace Sobolik. In 1966, the Sobolik family moved to Grand Rapids, MN. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1979. Jay served as a student manager for the Grand Rapids High School Hockey Team, even attending the state tournament. Later, he pursued hospitality management at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. For over 25 years, Jay worked as an assistant manager at Holiday Station Stores. He found joy in fishing and spending time at the cabin on Lake George. Jay was deeply devoted to his faith and regularly attended church. He valued his friends and family and loved gathering with them at special occasions.  Jay truly enjoyed the time spent with friends on the houseboat, affectionally known as "The Boat", on Pokegama Lake. Additionally, he had a passion for sports and regularly attended the NCAA  Hockey Frozen 4, no matter where it took place.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Clair. He is survived by his mom, Grace; sister, Mary (Ken) Petersen; brothers, Tom (Judy) Sobolik, and John (Janet) Sobolik, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church on Friday, March 22 beginning at 10:00 AM and lasting until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Lake George Cemetery, at a later date. Fr. Joseph Sobolik will officiate.
