Obituary for Jeffrey Terebayza

Jeffrey A. Terebayza, age 61, of Hill City, MN, passed away unexpectedly January 15, 2025 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing, Minnesota.

Jeffrey Allan Terebayza was born March 25, 1963 in Aikin, Minnesota, the son of Rosalie Marie (Ashton) and Frank Terebayza, Jr.  Jeff attended school and graduated from Hill City High School in Hill City, MN.  Following his education, Jeff enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.  He served from October 1981 to his honorable discharge in October 1985.

He made his home in the Twin Cities metro area where he worked as a machinist.  Later, he continued his education and became a licensed Heavy Equipment Operator.  Jeff worked throughout the United States on the pipelines as well as road construction crews.   It seemed that where ever he was working he quickly earned the nickname, "Sarge!"

Jeff had an incredibly unique dark sense of humor and he had no filter; however, he had a deep passion and love for the United States of America.  He enjoyed being involved in the Hill City area, serving in the American Legion Veterans Honor Guard and volunteering at events in Hill City.  A highlight for Jeff was participating in the annual Memorial Day services.  He will truly be missed by all who know and loved him.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Frank; his mother, Rosie Terebayza who died December 10, 2024; and his two sisters, Helen Terebayza and Tracy Berndt.

He will always be remembered by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Stefanie Terebayza; five nieces and nephews; three great nieces and nephew; brother-in-law, Dave Berndt; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service to honor Jeff and his mother, Rosie is being planned for Spring 2025.  Details will be provided when available.

Rest easy Marine, your watch is over.                                                                        Fair winds and following seas.
