On November 14, 2024, our Heavenly Father received one of the BEST! He received Joe (Pepsi Joe) Haverkost as his wife who was his city girl turned farm girl when they first met 39 years ago in August 1985 said goodbye. Joe's one wish before passing was to be able to personally say goodbye to his friends, but time did not allow for this to happen. Therefore, wherever you are…tip your glass or raise your hand to the sky. As Joe often said in these past several years, "It has been a journey, but it has been a GOOD one" and he would not change a thing.

Joe loved his career with Pepsi, a job he held from shortly after graduating from Greenway High School in 1972 until his retirement in June of 2013. Throughout those years he met many, many wonderful people who in one way or another touched him in ways that made his job enjoyable and put a big smile on his face. However, the most satisfying part of his life was FARMING…it was in his blood from birth to his very last breath.

Preceding Joe's passing is his father, Joe; mother, Mildred; fathers-in-law, Wally Johnson and Herman Mattson; and mother-in-law, Lois Mattson. Joe is survived by his wife, Wanda; sisters, Berenice Reader, Leawood, KS, and Mary Haverkost, Lauderdale, MN; stepsons, Jason Koski, CO, and Paul (Marsha) Koski, Esko, MN; grandchildren, Madisyn (Joey Diaz), Britta, Brooke, and Bryce; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Zahley, and Zander; his best friend, Ed Dimatteo; and those who reached out to him throughout his life and helped him in his final journey…Wayne Roberts, Rick Steel, Lynn and Cindy Majewski, Bill Johnson and Carol Berghammer; and all of the Lulich Implement team of Mason, WI. Moreover, a big thank you to St. Croix Hospice and team who were there for Joe in his final days and the Mayo team; especially Dr. Smoot who made it possible for Joe to accomplish the things he wanted to be completed before his departure from us.

Per Joe's request, there will be no memorial service, however, donations made to Mayo Clinic Cholangiocarcinoma Research, c/o Department of Development at Mayo Clinic, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905 would be greatly appreciated.
