Judy
Jasso
d. May 27, 2026
Grand Rapids
Judy L. Jasso, age 82, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at The Emeralds of Grand Rapids with her family at her side.
Judy Lavonne Jasso was born July 23, 1943 in Gibbon, Minnesota, the third of eight children born to Juell (Loberg) and Daniel Lentz. Judy's family made their home in Grand Rapids where Judy graduated from high school in 1961. Following graduation, Judy moved to San Diego, California securing a job as a clerk at a Salvation Army Store. An upholstery shop was located on the same block and Judy had been admired by one of the upholsterers – Manuel Jasso. He asked her to go on a date and the rest is history! Judy and Manuel were married in Yuma, Arizona on November 24, 1962.
They made their home in Grand Rapids and raised their family of three children, Manuel, Jr., Teresa, and Philip. Judy was a very hard-working woman. She became the Dietary Manager at Leisure Hills Care Center, now The Emerald in Grand Rapids and retired after 27 years of service. Later in life, Judy made her home in the apartments adjacent to the care center she had worked at for many years and moved from the apartments to The Emeralds Care Center.
Judy can be remembered as "one of the Best Mexican Cooks" and a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Her Christian faith was very important to her and was demonstrated by always wanting to participate in the Rosary and attending church services where she lived. She loved to play BINGO and if you arrived to visit during this time, Judy would continue playing until the games were finished!
Judy made a selfless decision to donate her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program after she died. This was her final way of helping others.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel "Manny" Sr. in 2010; her parents; and her brothers, Rodney Lentz and Neil Lentz.
Judy will be deeply missed by her children, Manuel B. (Paula) Jasso, Teresa (Mike) Rom, and Philip (Nelly) Jasso; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Ana, Heather, Rosa, Nichole, Antonio, Aliksandr, Peyten, and Maiya; 11 great grandchildren; her siblings, Anita Saunders, Jack Lentz, Sharron Lewis, Dennis Lentz, and Les Lentz; many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 19, 2026 at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Moments Hospice, 1001 South Pokegama Avenue D, Grand Rapids, MN 55744 in Judy's honor.
