Justen Patrick Janssen, age 49, of Embarrass, MN, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at his home.

Justen was born in 1974 in Grand Rapids, MN to Kenneth and Patricia Janssen. He was homeschooled in Hill City and attended Thief River Falls vocational school for pilot training and later welding. In 1995, Justen married Lynne Cullen and were blessed with two children. They resided in Thief River Falls until their divorce. In 2017, Justen met Chris McDougall when he guided a crappie fishing adventure for Chris and a friend. Justen was a versatile individual, having worked in various fields such as oil fields, welding, heavy equipment operation, and trucking. He also worked as a general contractor. His dream was to live off the grid and embrace an outdoor lifestyle. Justen had a deep passion for fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his loved ones. Wood carving was his true calling.

Justen is preceded in death by his grandparents, Patrick and June Johnson; uncle and aunt, Wesley and Kathy Johnson; and his children's mom, Lynne Cullen. He is survived by his significant other, Chris McDougall; daughter, Whitney (Christopher) Jaeger; son, Damian (Heather Stewart) Janssen; sister, Kara (Eric) Craine; brothers, Wade (Kendra) Janssen, Daniel (Ashley) Janssen, and Nathan (Cassy) Janssen; parents, Ken and Pat Janssen; four grandchildren, Jennings, Kolton, Elizabell, Everhett; and Christine's children, Ian and Alaina McDougall.

A visitation will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Hill City Assembly of God in Hill City, MN followed by a memorial service at 11 AM. Rev. Lisa Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Macville Cemetery, Swatara, MN.
