d. Sep 29, 2024
Keith Andrew "Skeeter" Tok, age 82, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Edina, MN.
Keith was born June 7, 1942, in Grand Rapids, MN to Andrew C. and Eunice L (Carlson) Tok. Keith grew up in Bovey, Minnesota and attended Greenway High School in Coleraine. It was during his senior year that he met his future wife, Andrea Peterson. Keith was a standout 3-sport athlete at Greenway, which earned him a scholarship from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Keith went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Art's degree, and began his career with 3M in St. Paul, Minnesota.
On July 31, 1965, Keith was united in marriage to Andrea Peterson in Grand Rapids, MN. They moved to Bovey, MN and Keith accepted a position with ISD # 316. Keith and Andrea then moved to Grand Rapids, MN where he started Tok Furniture before purchasing and expanding the Grand Rapids Ace Hardware. Keith sold the store to the Burggraf Family and took the position of Head of Purchasing for Blandin Paper. Following his retirement from Blandin he stayed busy doing odd jobs for people, remodeling his home, and woodworking. He later returned to help out at Burggraf's Ace Hardware until retiring once and for all, having provided over 50 years of dedicated service with Ace Hardware. It's no wonder that Keith will be remembered for his love of helping people.
Keith was active in the Masons, Shriners, Jesters (25 years director), and Star of the North Lions Club. He was past Chairman of Retail Trades, Past Director of the Norwest Bank Board, original member of the Grand Rapids YMCA Board, member of the Itasca College Foundation Board, and past Trustee of the Grand Rapids Community Presbyterian Church.
Keith and Andrea raised their family on Pokegema Lake in Grand Rapids where they enjoyed spending time at the beach and on the lake in the pontoon. Keith also treasured his time with family and friends at Wabigama Duck Camp enjoying duck hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Andrea of 58 years. Keith is survived by his daughter Sarah W. Tok of Grand Rapids, MN; son Stephen A. Tok of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren Christian, Nicholas, Ryan, and Abby; great grandson Damon; sisters Karen Tarbuck, Laurel Kuusinen, Wendy Boettcher.
Keith's family is making plans for a memorial celebration for Keith and Andrea at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials in Keith's memory may be sent to: Sarah Tok, 903 3rd Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
